There may be some positive fallout from this; enough people may be fed up by the economic "scandal" (as presented by the popular media, in all parts of the political spectrum) to vote the bums out. George Dubya keeps acting as if he had a mandate to govern, rather than having received a minority of the popular vote and a bare (and possibly tainted) majority of the electoral college.
