.........Hitotsubashi University is a national university and the only university in Japan specializing in humanities and social science. It was first privately established in 1875 as Institute for Business Training. To meet the demands of the the time, its specific purpose was to educate businessmen who would be the driving force in the establishment of the modern Japanese society. The faculty of economics was founded as a department in 1949 when the University was renamed as Hitotsubashi University. In 1952, the graduate school of economics was also started. .........
