I've never had either kind, but I AM claustrophobic and you have my sympathies. I'm allergic to dental anesthesias so have all dentistry done without, and find that making up songs in my head is a help, since I have to concentrate. It doesn't help with the actual pain, but it does cut the stress from the drill noise. Good luck and keep up posted.
