Sorry haven't been able to get on line for a while. Yes it's a tape of an album which we can't identify. It is a male singer, sometimes more than one voice, and the instruments sound like violin, tin whistle and guitar? They could be Irish.
Songs in the order as follows (I think it's all by the same group)
"O come on you lads of high renown
For to cheer a fine young maiden (?)
As she rode out on a summer's day
For to view the soldiers parading"...her name is Mary, but I cant make out all the words on this track.
2- "There were three gypsies in a row..." (some lyrics I can't make out)
"Laddie O, Laddie O, follow the gypsy laddie O..."
3- Penny Wager"While travelling the road at the close of the day
when I came to an alehouse along the highway
opened the door and I called for a quart
and as to the payment, I gives it no thoughtChorus:
Singing whack fol the day,
One of the tracks is 'Hard Times Come Again No More'
whack fol the day.
For all in me pocket
was one penny..."
The others we can't identify. Here are some of the lyrics from the songs
4-
"The sun is up, the day is clear,
The dog is barking at the door,
It won't be long before I leave
and I won't see you no more.
And as I reach ??? pier
Find the boat and all the gear
Me mind goes north to where I'll find myself some day.
Three short months...
The Summer months and that is all
Then I'll say goodbye to Paddy's Shamrock Shore.
I'll take a plane to London town
And moving over Amsterdam
Head on north until I reach Helsinki's shore."
5- "I met her on a moor one day...
Ride lassie ride..."
6- Instrumental
7-"Hard Times Come Again No More"
It sounds like it's a vinyl recording so it may be fairly old.
