Febreeze only covers the smell from human noses, though, in my experience. The cat will still smell the markings and might take an opportunity to cover the Febreeze with "fresh" scent.

I agree with RichM, buy a new case and keep it closed, esp. if you cannot figure out what upset the cat enough to do that.
