Nature's Miracle works wonders. Febreze works, but, quite honestly, I don't like ITS smell. If you throw something in the washer, use a drop (really -- only one or two drops) of anise oil.. Your item will smell of licorice when it comes out of the washer, but it's very effective on cat pee, smoke from a house fire, etc. Lemon grass oil, orange oil, and other citrus oils can be added to water to spray on furniture or instrument cases to discourage cats -- and they smell good.
