The death has been announced of the actor Leo McKern at his home in Bath. Born in Sidney, Australia in 1920, his most famous role was probably as Rumpole in the television series "Rumpole of the Bailey" which ran from 1978 to 1992. He was also "No. 2" in the series "The Prisoner." He had a string of film roles appearing in such classics as "A Tale of Two Cities" (1958); "A Man for All Seasons" (1966); "Ryan's Daughter" (1975)and "The Omen" (1976) among many others. He won the Australian Film Award and the London Film Critics Award as Best Actor in the 1986 film "Travelling North." Farewell Leo and "goodnight, Sweet Prince."
