One of my favorites had to be the Doors' Strange Days. Circus freaks prowling the street on the cover, and the only mention of the band is a tattered handbill tacked to a door. It was quite a groundbreaking concept at the time. One of the more interesting...Electric Mud by Muddy Waters. On the cover, Muddy is wearing a barber apron, holding his guitar, and his hair is freshly processed and luxuriant. Inside, Muddy is sitting in a barber chair in the midst of getting his process done, looking into a mirror in which there is also a reflection of a huge, gaudily painted ceramic cobra. Weird, but appropriate.
And be careful with the S___ references, Lonesome Hawk. A word to the wise is sufficient.
