He's taen the grey goose by the green sleeve

Your flesh is tender, your bones I maun prieve
For that Ah cam tae the toon, oh."

Up gat the auld wife oot o' her bed
An' oot o' the windae she shot her auld head,
"Eh, gudeman, the grey goose is dead,
An' the tod's been in the toon, oh".
