(There'll Be) PEACE IN THE VALLEY
(Thomas A. Dorsey)

I am tired and weary but I must toil on
Till the Lord comes to call me away
Where the morning is bright
And the Lamb is the light And the night is as fair as the day.

CHORUS
There'll be peace in the valley for me, some day
There will be peace in the valley for me.
I pray no sorrow and sadness or trouble will be
There will be peace in the valley for me.

Flowers will be blooming, the grass will be green,
And the skies will be clear and serene.
The sun ever shines, giving one endless beam
And no clouds there will ever be seen.
CHORUS

I looked in a stack of hymnals and didn't find this one. The Hal Leonard book is probably a pretty good source, but if somebody has another source, please double-check it for us. Was the lion/lamb verse written by Dorsey?

Alternate second verse:
The bear will be gentle and the wolf will be tame,
And the lion shall lie down with the lamb,
And the host from the wild will be led by a child,
And I will be changed from this creature that I am.
CHORUS
Alternate verse transcribed from a recording by R.H. Harris on Precious Lord: Recordings of the Great Gospel Songs of Thomas A. Dorsey
