Peace in the Valley words and music by Thomas A. Dorsey

Well, this site supposedly has the lyrics that Elvis sang (1957), but I'm not sure how accurate the transcription is. They have one line as "The beasts of the wild shall be lit by a child..."! So I think the " ...and the lamp is alight..." line may be a mondegreen. But I think Elvis did sing "...and the night, night is as black as the sea...", as they say. (It was either "...black as the sea..." or "...bright as the day...".

Joe, I've checked several websites that have lyrics for this song, and they all have the "...lion shall lie down by the lamb..." verse attributed to Thomas A. (Andrew?) Dorsey.

Here's a link to the words and the musical notation for harmonica click here.

The "...that's what it says..." phrase in the first verse is, I believe, just some singers' ad libbing.
