Hmmmmm. Don't know if I dare contribute to this thread. There's the battle between the light Australian cruiser Sydney and the German raider Kormoran, 11/19/42, in which both ships were sunk. The Sydney came up close alongside the Kormoran assuming her to be a more innocent vessel, and was effectively ambushed with gunfire and torpedo; the Kormoran was also mortally damaged in turn.
