Introduction

Welcome to the Instruments Permathread. This thread is a reference guide to information on the buying, building, repairing, maintaining, and accessorizing of all kinds of instruments. You will find here links to threads from the Mudcat archives which discuss these issues, as well as links to other websites that Mudcatters have suggested.

There is a lot of good information that has accumulated in the archives, and I hope that this guide will help more people to benefit from the discussions that have slipped out of sight. You are welcome to contribute to this thread; please add links to threads that you consider relevant, and links to external websites (you can include a short note as to why you are recommending the site to other Mudcatters). The new entries will be added to this master list when the next update is done.

Please note that this thread is not intended to address the playing, tuning, or studying of instruments, but rather the instruments themselves. For discussions of playing technique, the best place to look (or to contribute good links) is the Help For Pickers Permathread, which is currently in three parts: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3. Please use the third part if you want to add to the Help For Pickers Permathread. Help for Pickers is also a good thread to find tips on buying and maintaining instruments, though its focus is on playing.
