"Mozart" is quite a powerful program, & has a 30 day trial period. Expensive to buy, but it does the lot - multi staves, transpose, export to midi files, and - I like this bit - import midi files & convert them to sheet music! But it's maybe too big if you want something simple, in which case I'd agree that Finale Notepad is a good, basic option.
