I am surprised not to see Ran listed. I agree with you about Singing in the Rain, too. Not sure I think either of the Godfathers or 2001 should be on there.

Just saw an excellent one the other day....The Emperor and the Assassin. Breathtaking in its sets, costuming, acting, and direction. Fictional, but based on the myths about Ying Zheng, the Chinese emperor famous for the archealogical find of all those terra cotta soldiers in his tomb. You can read more about it here.

Here is a non-fiction account of the First Emperor of China, Yingzheng, aka Qin Shi Huang. Excellent movie; highly recommended.
