Hello Birkie brothers and sisters.

Question: do you wash your Birks, and if so, how? I suspect that immersing them in water might hasten their departure to the sacred burial grounds. Maybe an electric toothbrush?

Related question: does anyone besides me have the "microfibre" (i.e, non-leather) insoles, and if so, do you find them kind of smelly? I don't know if this material has a greater capacity for accumulating dust and sweat than the normal ones, or if it's the synthetic material itself that smells funny.

Do you think putting baby powder on the soles now and then would fix them?
