My Birks are by far the most comfortable footwear I own. If I wear socks, I can extend the sandal wearing season significantly.

In WV in the summer it is not unusual to have very hot days and cold evenings and nights in the higher elevations (like Clifftop). I always keep a pair of socks handy for such a situation. Easier than carrying a spare pair of shoes.

If it gets too hot and dry and dusty in the summer, I will sometimes wear socks for comfort and a little protection. Hotter than sandals alone but cooler than shoes and socks.

I LIKE the look of sandals and socks. An acquired taste to be sure.

Sandals and socks send a message that I am happy to send. If my sandals and socks disturb you to the extent that you avoid me, that is a good thing. We probably don't want to know each other.
