Charley, I'm delighted that you folks will be visiting The Rose City -- and while I'm in town, to boot!

There are several ongoing jams and song circles (2nd and 3rd Saturdays and every Monday night) but none I know of that are specifically geared to sea chanties. (If you're at one of the jams and I can be there, we can steer the jam toward chanteys, etc. The song selections depend on who shows up.) On the other hand, there are quite a few members of PFS (e.g., Mary Benson and David Ingersoll) who are very much into that genre. PM me your email address and I'll give you some names of folks to contact for more suggestions.

You really should let Kate Power and Steve Eichorn, the proprietors of Artichoke Music, know that you are coming. They host an open jam every Saturday from 2-4PM and also showcase various artists on Friday nights (some as "surprise guests"). In any event, Artichoke would be a good place to drop by.

Wed., Sept. 25, I'm pretty sure, is the PFS Open Mike, at the Star-E Rose CafŽ (Pub?).

Anyway, I, for one, would love to meet you and hear your music, as would several of my music buddies. Amergin also lives nearby, and he might come to Portland on Sunday the 22nd for a jam that some of us do on Sunday afternoons.

Meanwhile, I'll scout around among the Portland folkies for the sea chantey afficcionados.
