You might try the Mystic Seaport Maritime Museum in CN; several of the working Chanteymen on the Crew there are regular Mudcat correspondants, and if anything were going on in the area they would know about it. I think they have a group known as "Forbitter", and who knows but they migh consider having an interested Pilgrim sit in on one of their jams or shindigs; it wouldn't hurt to ask!
