We either vote for the guys that they handpick in the first place...or we don't vote and those guys get elected anyway by the people who do vote. Consider this: How will a guy without backing by a major party get enough funding to run a successful campaign? He won't. How will a person who truly represents the public get backing from a major party? He won't. It's a closed shop, folks...
