Subject: Amp on a stick.
I've responded to several queries regarding accoustic amplification in recent months and I usually reccomend the German-made AER range.
Now AER have produced an even smaller amp which you can mount on a microphone stand.
It weighs in at a little over 14 pounds but still has a 40W output and has both instrument and microphone channels. The controls are simple; bass, mid, treble, with the ability to do some tone shaping with the mid-range contour filter and a built in Alesis digital reverb.
Pricewise, the AER range is never the cheapest, this one has a list price of £465 which means you should probably be able to pick one up for a little over £400, but as I've said in previous threads, the tonal quality of the AER range is quite superb and they are the choice of top players like Martin Taylor, Bob Brozman and Jan Ackerman.
I'm sure this little amp would suit the needs of many players who want portability without sacrificing tone and, although only 40w, if it's anything like it's bigger brother(the 60W Compact)there's plenty enough volume.
If you're in the market for an amp there's plenty to look at, Ashdown accoustic, Yorkville AM100, SWR, etc. but be sure to check these out too!
