Radriano, if you are talking about the book "The Songcatcher" by Sharyn McCrumb, you are right in that it has nothing to do with the film.
McCrumb is a descendent of people who settled in the Smoky Mountains in the 18th century. The novel is a fictionized biography of one of her ancestors. Similarity in titles is coincidence (novel © in 2001, film also © 2001).
