In the early eighties, a Chicano activist named Kiko Martinez was jailed in Denver for sending letter bombs to his political opponents. Getting Kiko out of jail became a popular cause, and it gave rise to my favorite graphitti of all time. On a brick wall by a busy street in the Hispanic part of town, some ardent supporter spray-painted in two foot high letters "FREE KIKO". This remained for several weeks until I became quite used to seeing it. Then one morning I passed by and was cracked up laughing- it had been changed by some jokester to read "FREE KIKO with purchase of one Kiko"
