Thread Name: Help: Jolly Beggarman/We'll go no more a-rovin
Subject: Jolly Beggarman/We'll go no more a-rovin
Just saw this in the Richard Dyer-Bennet thread, credited to Lord Byron.

So we'll go no more a-roving So late into the night, Though the heart be still as loving, And the moon be still as bright. For the sword outwears the sheath, And the soul wears out the breast, And the heart must pause to breathe, And love itself must rest. Though the night was made for loving, And the day return too soon, Yet we'll go no more a-roving By the light of the moon

It's been a long, long time but I seem to remember that part of that poem is turns up as chorus to a song called "The Jolly Beggar" or some such.

Can anyone shed light on the connection?

Cheers,
Michael
