Toad: good thoughts. I am not proposing that we support failed policies. I propose that we adopt policies for the forest service that favor the people (taxpayers)yet provide a reasonable enough profit to loggers so that they will do the job. That might include the proviso that loggers clean up after themselves, build and maintain roads required, etc. The main purpose would be to reduce the number of devestating and costly fires that we have had this summer.

For a good book to read about conservatism and conservative policis, I can't think of a better one to recommend than the one written by Senator Barry Goldwater in the 1960's. "Conscience of a Conservative."
