Thread Name: Lyr ADD: Old Richmond Prison (from Ralph Stanley)
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Old Richmond Prison, Ralph Stanley
Buck-anan has a long, distinguished history in the "old country" as well. Pronouncing it like "yew" seems to have come in from the south of England. Buchan (Buck-an) is another old name. Buck-anan as the pronunciation is still fairly widespread in the south among the older people, but it is giving ground rapidly.
I keep Ralph Stanley's "Old Richmond Prison" handy on my desktop.
