OK, OK! I know I am pedantic but it is the term solar powered lights - Ie lights that only function when light is shining on them, like solar powered calculators - that tickled me. If they had said solar powered batteries it would have made more sense!

Perhaps it was just that Stewart Hall was presenting them that made it funnier:-)
