The last few times we have been through Groningen by water. This might just offer an accommodation option as there are many boat moorings in the centre of town and it might be possible to charter a passenger-carrying "Jutter" (Sailing barge) or some other type of vessel which would have plenty of room and be an authentic venue for singing sea chanteys.
