Thread Name: Lyr Req: John Law Burned Down the Liquor Store
Subject: John Law Burned Down the Liquor Store
I'd like to do this Chris Thomas King song at an upcoming jam session. I've go this much of the lyrics (off Down from the Mountain) can anyone correct this or fill in the rest?
Moonshine whiskey ought to be a crime
when I start drinkin', I'm bound to lose my mind
Oh brother [something] give me [something] time

Now what's that smokin' yonder across the hills
Looks like our secret hideaway we've had so many years
John Law done come and run us away from here

Chorus
He burned down the liquor store
He burned down the liquor store
John Law burned down the liquor store
John Law burned down the liquor store
Without bootleg liquor, where we gonna go

He turned water to whiskey, that's what the preacher say
Lord I need a miracle to get me through the day
Muddy water come and wash my blues away

Chorus

[missing verse or two]

Good morning, judge, what may be my fine
When the judge take my whiskey he didn't give me no time
He said "Could you make me some more of your moonshine?"

Chorus
