Ossian Publications have published 4 books of songs and ballads popular in Ireland. There are 50 songs in each. John Loesberg, who edited and arranged them, explains in the introduction to volume 1 that the purpose of the book is to provide songs that are actually popular in Ireland today (this was published in 1978!) so they include English, American and Scottish songs as well as Irish ones. Eg "Joe Hill", "Amazing Grace" and "The House of the Rising Sun". And Australian - volume 3 includes "The Band Played Waltzing Matilda". Volume 4 was published in 1989.
