Actually, 99% is probably exagerrated; you can't preserve that sort of purity in storage or processing when there is a high density factor of BS particulates -- separating them out is prohibitively expensive, so most people just accept the 80% solution, as long as none of it has crystalized and made the hole-segment unuseable.
