Jeri, Suppose there was a new singaround or a new "community of folkies" forming, and when you attended for the first time, you found that someone else had established "Fire Down Below" as "their song." Would you feel it inappropriate for you to share your version with the group? Is it really fair for someone who has worked hard to make a song part of their special repertoire to be, in effect, barred from doing that song in a group just because someone else has, quite independently, also labored to make it part of theirs?
