Well folks, it's been 3 and 1/2 months since the radiation treatments were finished, and I still sound like George C. Scott imitating Elmer Fudd. Had a follow up exam today, and I get the same story: Red, inflamed vocal cords, caused by the radiation. He says this kind of treatment always results in great damage to the cells by reducing their ability to heal. There is also a dryness due to the killing of mucous membranes on the vocal cords. He doesn't think 3 and 1/2 months is a long time for this. Now, tell you what, If I had known it would be this much hassle, I might well have gone with surgery. What say, folks? many of you have had some experience with this, or you know someone who has. Am I being impatient?
