I just heard Disappear Fear's Sonia Rutstein, who performs alone under the moniker SONiA, for the first time last night. Seamus is right: she is a winner. What incredibly high energy! This young woman has the musical soul of the Rolling Stones wedded the conscience of Phil Ochs. I know the critics will compare SONiA with the young Bob Dylan, with Ani DiFranco, with Tracy Chapman, with Holly Near, even with Bruce Springsteen. It's clear she has been inspired by all of them, and yet she has a style all her own.
And she's not bad looking, either. Ah, if I were but 25 years younger! *GRIN*
By the way, I believe the song that grabbed Seamus is called Me Too. It's about how a Vietnam veteran influenced his daughter's life in a truly positive way. The song is one that inspires a deeper sense of patriotism than the God Bless America genre.
