I think he was born in Salford, near Manchester, or at least that's where he was brought up. His parents were Scottish born. I think I said earlier that I was the first 'roadie' for the Dubliners but knew Luke Kelly before he joined the group. He had a lot of time for MacColl, as was proper, but his singing style was entirely different. Luke was probably the best singer of Daintie Davey I have ever heard, (also Peggy Gordon).
