I think these notions about Bush getting into this because of the family name etc. are just plain nuts. I think he sees a real threat, and a real people being oppressed and is ready to go where angels fear to tread. I can't say what he should do. I do not believe this is politically motivated. We're damned if we do and damned if we don't. I can see good outcomes either way and really bad ones. Whatever happens I hope it is quick and releases the Iraqui people from their despot and their consequent lives of desparation. Here is my letter: Dear Iraqi people: I hope we don't end up over there, but if we do, trust me, your lives will be much better in the long run. The short run might not be pleasant, but you will be under no more military law than is necessary to control the area and preserve the rights and lives of minority citizens. Cooperation with Allied troops will be in your best interest. mg
