Hi Paul....I sang in folk group back in the 60's called "The New Olde Towne Alehouse and Gallery Singers" and we cuta "45" and one of the songs was "Sassafrass" And indeed the song was written by Billy Ed Wheeler...why we recorded that song was I guess we liked the song so much...unfortunately there was another group in south Minneapolis called "The Flinthill Singers" Anyone out there remember them? Anyway the same great writer who wrote the song called Coal Tattoo also wrote Sassafrass.
