Thread Name: Req: Sean Tyrrell - lyrics from The Orchard album
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Sean Tyrrell
Sean says in the notes about Bad Luck to This Marching: "This is another one of the gems of poems I found in that great treasure chest 1000 Years of Irish Poetry. (Still in print, edited by Kathleen Hoagland, Devin-Adair Co., Greenwich CT, USA) I was later to find out that this had been a song originally so by adding my own tune I have brought it back to its original form. It first saw the light of day in its present life with The Medal Hunters, a band including myself, Shane Holden and Michelle Bonamy. I hope Charles Lever who wrote the words in the middle 1800s would approve of my version."

about Lights of Little Christmas he writes: "Phil Gaston was on his way from my house throught the Burren to his own house oin the other side of the Burren, when the inspiration for the lyrics of this positive little beaut came to him. I suppose crossing the High Commons on the 6th of January or as it's known in the west of Ireland "Little Xmas" and seeing the houses sparse though they are with myriads of candles in the windows strong feelings were evoked. It is a song of the Burren, of Emigration but for once returning, a love song, a song of hope."
