Greetings:
Here are three chances to get out of Manhattan and visit New York City's outer boroughs!
THE RIVERDALE SING in the Bronx Thursday, October 17, 2002 7:30 - 10:00 PM
The Riverdale Sing takes place at the Riverdale Presbyterian Church, 4765 Henry Hudson Parkway in the Bronx. It is a monthly opportunity for friends and neighbors to share some good music and good company. All musical styles are welcome, traditional and contemporary. People should bring voices, instruments, and songs to share. A donation of two dollars per person is requested.
This season we anticipate it will continue the third Thursday of each month through June. The church is located on the west side of the parkway between West 246th and 249th Streets. Go down the driveway to the double red doors off the parking area. The sing is in the auditorium. Parking is available for the first 18 cars.
For information, please call Evy Mayer at (718) 549-1344 after 11:00 AM.
THE SUNNYSIDE SONG CIRCLE in Queens Sunday, November 3, 2002 2:00 - 7:00 PM
We are friends and neighbors who come together to share music in western Queens. Bring instruments, voices, and songs to share. All styles welcome, traditional and contemporary. Munchies and libations also welcome. This upcoming session will take place at the home Joel Landy, 41-08 43rd Street, apt. 4F, in Sunnyside. That's close to Skillman Avenue and just two blocks north of Queens Boulevard.
For information, please call Joel Landy at (718) 937-2240.
A post-session pig-out at a local eatery should be expected. We will pick a place that's friendly to both the most primordial carnivores and the most finicky vegans among us.
FOLK OPEN SING in Brooklyn Wednesday, November 6, 2002 7:00 - 10:00 PM
Join our family-friendly gathering the first Wednesday of every month at the Ethical Culture Society, 53 Prospect Park West, near 2nd Street, in Park Slope. Bring your voices, instruments, friends, neighbors, and snacks. Children are especially welcome.
For information, please call Alison Kelley at (718) 636-6341.
The Riverdale Sing, the Sunnyide Song Circle, and the Brooklyn Open Sing are all sponsored by the New York Pinewoods Folk Music Club.
