Hello all;

For about 9 years now I've done a lot of volunteer work with developmentally disabled adults, mostly teaching living skills and basic education. Recently, the 'welfare' money that was destined for aliens and able-bodied folks in our state was cut and shifted to 'job-training' for both them and the disabled community, so now my volunteer work is in job-training.

The company I work with applied for a contract with Manhasset Specialty company, and WE GOT IT!! I was a bit puzzled at first, the name sounded so very familiar, until I realized that I'd been staring at that name on every MUSIC STAND from grade 4 orchestra on....

YES!! Manhasset Music Stands! Well, the group I am training is building accessory lamps for the music stands. You can see more about them HERE. Our crew assembles the lamps and packages them for distribution.

This is a real step forward for some of these folks. I've got a crew made up of folks with everything from Fetal Alcohol Syndrome to ADHD to Turettes. It's like trying to herd cats, but it is wonderful to see them getting out in the world and realizing that they can make a difference too.

Anyhow, Christmas is coming. If you know someone who likes making music and doesn't want to do it in the dark? Well, my advice would be to check into Manhasset Music Stand Lamps (shameless plug for the good guys) They run about $12 US from the factory, and come with cord/bulb/ect so they are ready to go at the turn of a switch. There is a distribution site on the Manhasset website, and you can find a dealer near you, or send a PM and I'll see what I can do from this end.

Thanks,
JenEllen
