Mischief night has always held a special place in my heart.

There was a horse farm near our development. A day or so earlier, we kids would go and collect some droppings and put them in a paper sack. This would then be put in a paper sack before a neighbor's door. It was then lit and the bell rung. When the neighbor opened the door and saw the fire, the natural thing was usually to stomp it. Enjoy.

My mother was a teacher. One year, we heard that some kids were coming from her school to "egg" our house. I stood outside in the shadows and watched about 6 of them approach. When I judged they were close enough, I intoned in my most ghoulish baritone "I wouldn't do that if I were you." They took off and did not come back that night.
