I've heard that Vancouver used to have an Irish Center however nobody I know here seems to have any information about its' history. While many ethnic groups have a center(most notably the admirably well organized Scots with their Scottish Center and the SFU Center for Scottish Studies) the Vancouver Irish seem content with assimilation under the crown and the "Celtic" mantle which seems to include almost everybody from anywhere these days. While I like inclusiveness the lack of an Irish center here constitutes a bit of an abyss (fancy Irish theme bars an Irish center do not make as these are money making enterprises with no explicit mandate to cater to the broader constituency).So, what happened to the Vancouver Irish Center and its' history if it ever existed? Thanks.
