I received my copy of Alison's CD for bodhran practice last week, put it in the CD drive to just have a quick listen, and found that I had to get the drum out because it was so compelling to play along. I listened to the end, delighted with the easy and uncomplicated way Alison introduced each rhythm pattern with her own sense of fun and humor. I've watched instruction videos for the bodhran that were much less helpful than this simple CD of rhythm mnemonics and tunes. The pace of the tunes is slow enough for any beginner to follow on the drum or other instrument, but fast enough to be fun. Hornpipes are particularly fun to play with, I think, and now I will smile and always hear Alison's voice saying six times "juicy mango" then "big ice cream". A fun and very practical CD, thanks Alison.
