Thread Name: Alan Lomax Tribute at NOMAD
Subject: Alan Lomax Tribute at NOMAD
The Friday night session at NOMAD will feature a Tribute to Alan Lomax - songs, stories and reminiscences of the life and work of one of the world's premier collectors of traditional folk songs. Scheduled participants in the session will be Jerry Epstein - moderator, Jack Langstaff - founder of the Christmas Revels and Folk Music Week at Pinewoods Camp, Jeff & Gerret Warner and, of course, mudcatters Sandy & Caroline Paton, founders of Folk-Legacy Records. The session will include both audio and video recordings of Lomax himself, singing and talking about his early collecting days with his father, John Lomax. That's Friday, October 25 at 7:30 p.m.

The rest of the weekend will be filled with music and dance from all over - concerts, jam sessions, open mikes, instrument workshops, rounds and other participatory singing, lots of Contra, English, Scottish, International and other dancing. There'll also be a Folk Bazaar with crafts, musical instruments, clothes, books & recordings. Yes, both Folk-Legacy and Camsco will be there.

NOMAD happens at Newtown High School in Newtown, Connecticut, just off I-84 exit 11, a few miles west of Danbury.

Here's NOMAD's web site.

Regards,
John
