A strong earthquake has rattled Alaska, but there are no reports of injuries or severe damage.

The quake struck near Denali National Park early Wednesday with a preliminary magnitude of 6.7 on the open-ended Richter Scale. The Alaska Earthquake Information Center said residents could feel the earthquake from Fairbanks to Anchorage.

Reports say phone service to the Denali park ranger station is down.

Seismologists say there is no danger of the earthquake causing a tsunami - a large ocean wave - as its epicenter was more than 500 kilometers from the coast.
