Amen to the comments about Bill Monroe. I had the great honor to hear Bill and his band at Riverfront Plaza in Louisville in 1974. His performances still ring with the soul and energy he put into them. His innovations in the field of folk, bluegrass, country and popular music are not really appreciated by the millions of today's fans, though. He has been a major influence on everyone from Elvis Presley to Dwight Yoakam to the Grateful Dead. The LP Bean Blossom shows the power of what he and The Bluegrass Boys could do live.LEJ
