Thread Name: Hear Bottleneck Bill play 'poor boy'
Subject: RE: Hear Bottleneck Bill play 'poor boy'
Booker recorded "poor boy long ways from home" in the 30's? Where? I could be wrong but i don't think Booker used a penknife, unless it was on a song or two. I've seen him play in person and on a video and he used a slide. I also play several of his songs and they are slide songs, not lap style(i play both ways). As far as reproducing with great authenticity the old blues, maybe that flys in England but not in the US(at least if you expect someone to listen). I may cause some of the blues "purists" to have a fit, but some of that old stuff from the 30's stank. Yeah, all the old timers had a few good songs but you ought to listen to some of thier lesser known stuff. At least some of the modern performers have thier own versions of the old tunes(some of them stink also). I guess i'll never know what Bottleneck Bill sounds like cause i'm not gonna kiss microsofts rear just to hear it.
