Keep an eye out for skips and check them in case your papers are there. You might even phone skip companies and ask if they'll keep an eye out for the docs. A friend of mine had his car stolen some years ago with the only copy of a script which had just been commissioned for television; it could have been a mega headache for him ... but they found it in a skip on the edge of town.
