Had a car stolen from the airport parking garage in Montreal 3 years ago. The police were very helpful and cordial, but when I asked the chances of recovery all I got was a gallic shrug and the news that the car was probably in a container on its way out of the country.
Never heard from or of it or them again. Best way is to put on some kind of aftermarket ignition disabling device. Might not work 100% but at least it may buy enough time to make your car inconvenient for a thief.
