Went and saw "Frida" last night, what a disappointment. It is very beautiful, very spectacular intercutting of art and visuals, but the script is on the level of those terrible 1940's films of Chopin (Cornell Wilde) and Cole Porter (Cary Grant). The politics is completely confusing for anyone who does not know the subject intimately, and the plot is the "dying artist" relives her past. A dog pees on a canvas and Diego Rivera says -- wait for it -- "You are my best critic".
